Who can benefit from couples therapy?
As a therapist, I work with couples at all stages of their relationship. Whether you're dating, engaged, preparing for marriage, navigating married life, going through a divorce, or figuring out how to co-parent, I’m here to help. No matter where you are in your relationship journey or what challenges you're facing, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where both partners can express their struggles, share concerns, and work towards their goals. I don't take sides; both parties are equally heard and validated.
What to expect in couples therapy
When you decide to work with me, we'll start by discussing what brings you to couples counseling, identify your goals, and develop a treatment plan to help you achieve those goals. One of the first things I often tell couples is that even small tweaks in communication can make a huge difference.
During our sessions, I’ll provide you with tools and communication skills to help you resolve problems and reach your goals. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which involves doing different exercises and learning various skills. You'll also get exercises to try at home, which we'll discuss in our next session.
However, I believe that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to couples counseling. I use an eclectic approach to meet couples where they are and offer a modality that works best for their unique situation. Sometimes, all you need is an unbiased perspective and a few new tools in your toolkit to change the trajectory and strengthen your relationship.
